How It Works
Every project follows the same process, whether it’s a deck, a bathroom, or a full interior renovation. Here’s what to expect from the first phone call to the final walkthrough.
1. We talk about your project
We start with a conversation about what you’re trying to accomplish, your budget, and your timeline. This gives us what we need to put together an accurate estimate, and gives you a chance to ask questions before anything is signed.
2. We provide an estimate and scope of work
We put together a detailed scope of work and a budget, along with a reasonable timeline for the project. This is all laid out in a contract, with copies provided to you before construction starts.
3. We agree on payment terms
Payment terms are broken down in the contract based on progress through the project, with a completion date included. We don’t require a deposit the way most companies do. Payments are determined and agreed to upfront, and final payment is due once the work is complete.
4. We handle permits where required
Depending on your location and the scope of work, a permit may or may not be required. If one is needed, we’ll walk you through where to get it and provide the contact information you need to satisfy the requirements.
5. We build it
Materials are specified in the contract. If a substitution becomes necessary (a material runs out, a color is discontinued), we make it clear an equal substitution will be made, but only with your approval first. For items you haven’t chosen yet when the contract is signed, like lighting fixtures or hardware, a budget is set in the contract to cover what will be spent.
If a project runs late, it’s usually one of two things: weather or material delivery delays. Outside of those, we do what we say, when we say.
6. We complete the project and walk through it with you
Once the work is done, we walk through the finished project together before final payment is made.
Why homeowners come back
Over 80% of our customers come to us through repeat business or referrals from people we’ve worked for in the past. That’s not something we can put in a contract, it’s a result of doing the work the same way every time.
Questions worth asking any contractor
Before hiring anyone for a renovation project, it’s worth asking: How long have they been in business? Have they done a project like yours before? Are they insured? Who actually does the work, them or subcontractors? Can they provide recent references?
We’re happy to answer all of these and more before you decide to work with us.
